Jackson

"It would be nice to have Beckham there," said Morrison,

although she quickly added that Jackson "was always a

good neighbor."

Jackson bought the property years ago from a local cattle

rancher and turned it into his personal playground, naming

it after the mythical land of Peter Pan where boys never grow up.

The singer, who was a star before he reached his teens,

has said it was an effort to recreate the childhood he was

denied.

He installed a zoo stocked with exotic animals and more than

a dozen amusement park rides, including a merry-go-round

and a train to rival Disneyland's.

During the ranch's heyday in the late 1980s and 1990s,

Jackson would frequently bring ill or disadvantaged children

by the busload to the ranch to enjoy it with him.

Since he left in 2005 the exotic animals have been removed

and the ranch is said to have fallen into disrepair."No one is

living here," a security guard at the front gate said this week.

A representative OF Financial Title Co. OF San Francisco,

which filed the DEFAULT notice, did NOT immediately return

a call FOR comment.

A source CLOSE TO Jackson, who requested anonymity

because OF the sensitivity OF the matter, said it's not clear

whether the entertainer will keep Neverland.

Jackson has not lived there since his acquittal on child

molestation charges in 2005, and residents of Los Olivos,

the small town that gained attention in the movie "Sideways,"

say rumors of its imminent sale have been rampant for months.

Among those rumored to be interested in the property are

soccer star David Beckham, said Kim Morrison, one of the

administrators of a private school located across the road

from Neverland.

Jackson lawyer:

Michael Jackson reached an 11th-hour deal to refinance

his troubled Neverland Ranch, his lawyer said Thursday,

avoiding a public auction of the property that had been

scheduled next week.

Jackson attorney L. Londell McMillan told The Associated

Press the pop star has worked out a "confidential" agreement

with Fortress Investment Group LLC allowing him to retain

ownership of the famed property in Los Olivos, Calif.

"Neverland and MJ are fine," McMillan said.

A representative for Fortress did not immediately return

a call for comment.

The property was scheduled to be auctioned March 19 after

Jackson went into default on the $24.5 million he owes on the

2,500-acre spread in the rolling hills of central California's

wine country.

CASINO ROYALE:

His mission soon leads him to the Bahamas, where he learns of the evil Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen), who's planning to bankroll a series of terrorist outrages by holding a high-stakes poker contest at Le Casino Royale in Montenegro.

Bond is given $10million to infiltrate the game, the rookie spy still isn't trusted enough by handler M (Judi Dench), who assigns the shapely Vesper Lynd (Eva Green) to keep an eye on him - though 007 still manages to get to grips with mysterious Solange (Caterina Murino).

It's fitting that the film revolves around a card game since, by turning the Bond formula on its head, director Martin Campbell has taken one of the biggest gambles in cinema history. While 007 still gets to drive around exotic locales in his Aston Martin and ends up in a clinch with his leading lady, that's about the only thing Casino Royale has in common with the 20 films that have come before.

Aside from his readiness to kill, this Bond is far more vulnerable than his predecessors - not only does he have his heart broken, he also winds up almost dead after a severe beating at the hands of Le Chiffre.

After a pummelling, Connery and Roger Moore simply dusted off their DJs but this time 007 winds up on the critical list. And if the torture scene doesn't stun, the action set-pieces most certainly will.

Aside from some awesome chases, we get to see Bond trying to stop a jet being blown up in a scene that'll make your head spin faster than downing five vodka martinis.

Tellingly,
Campbell is the man who re-energised the series with GoldenEye, the 1995 entry that introduced Pierce Brosnan.

And, incredibly, he's done it again, turning a franchise that, after 2002's Die Another Day, was looking distinctly second-rate - especially in the face of competition from the likes of Mission: Impossible and The Bourne Identity.

The year's most eagerly anticipated film does not disappoint. You'll be shaken. You'll be stirred. Heck, you'll be blown away.

CASINO ROYALE: THE FIRST REVIEW

By David Edwards Mirror Film Critic

TURNING to face the world's most famous superspy, the bartender asks: "Shaken or stirred, sir?"

"Do I look like I care?" comes James Bond's icy reply.

Make no mistake, the rulebook has been well and truly torn up for 007's latest movie.

And Casino Royale is a breathless, thrilling romp that will win over a whole new generation of fans.

Easily the best Bond film since GoldenEye, it's 144 minutes of non-stop, end-to-end action that proves there's plenty of life in the world's longest-running movie franchise.

But a word of warning - this is unlike any other Bond flick. Dark, gritty and surprisingly violent, the suave, smooth-talking secret agent of old is replaced by a steely-eyed killer with a dash of vulnerability.

And new 007 Daniel Craig - the man with the golden hair, whose casting provoked an outcry among fans - is simply brilliant, oozing the kind of edgy menace that recalls Sean Connery at his very best.

Lindsay Lohan Engaged

Lindsay Lohan Engaged

An insider revealed to the New York Post newspaper: "Harry is ready to take the relationship to another level."

The lavish purchase came just days before restaurant heir Harry whisked 20-year-old Lindsay off on a romantic getaway, where he is expected to pop the question.

Harry has helped the 'Mean Girls' actress tone down her wild behaviour because he felt it was damaging her career.

A source said: "Harry has told her not to drink so much and is trying to calm her down."

Lindsay was due to attend the MTV Video Music Awards, in
New York, yesterday (31.08.06).

However, she chose to stay at home in
Los Angeles instead.
A source close to Morton said that he has made a trip to Cartier in
Beverly Hills and dropped a pretty penny on a beautiful engagement ring for the Mean Girls star. The source said of Morton, "He is ready to take their relationship to the next level." Morton has reportedly taken Lohan off on a romantic getaway where he is allegedly going to pop the big question. Guess the real question is…what took him so long? A month in Hollywood time is equivalent of what…seven years?

It has been suggested that Morton has tamed the wild child since they began dating. Said a source, "Harry has told her not to drink so much and is trying to calm her down." Just last month Lohan was chastised by studio executive and CEO James G. Robinson of Morgan Creek Productions, the company backing her new movie Georgia Rule. Robinson sent Lohan, and others including her mother and agent, a scathing letter slamming her behavior on the set of the movie. Robinson’s blamed Lohan’s tardiness and absences on her "excessive partying." Try harder, Harry!

Not only has Robinson slammed Lohan, but her Bobby co-star William H. Macy has also spoken out about her onset behavior calling. Macy called Lohan "a huge talent," but said she was "pretty late" to the set. He went on to say that being late to the set is very "disrespectful." Lohan’s Mom came to her defense after Robinson reprimanded her. Said Dina Lohan, "My daughter is a wonderful child. This is too much." She also called Robinson’s letter "ridiculous" and "way out of line." Wonder what she thought of Macy’s rant.
